Gallery - YEP! Kickoff Event 2025

YEP! celebrated the beginning of another school year with a 2025 kickoff event! Chapters from all over Douglas County came together for a day of activities, education and planning for another successful year implementing YEP! at their school.

Area middle and high schoolers shared what causes them stress and identified some of their strengths during the Kickoff in Lawrence. Led by DCCCA Prevention Services staff Alexandria Garcia, Ariel Cohn, Anabel Feauto, and Madeline Marrero, students and teacher leaders from Lawrence, Eudora, Baldwin City, and Perry-Lecompton schools participated. While enjoying games, art, pizza, and prizes, the students shared anxiety triggers they face in and out of school. They also identified some of the ways they manage stress by identifying strengths in areas, such as family support, positive friends, mentors, health activities, generosity, spirituality, and gratitude. YEP helps students become leaders and agents of change in their schools, so they can help peers in crisis by connecting them to supports, involving trusted adults, and sharing resources.
