Douglas County Students Attend CADCA Conference in Nashville

The CADCA Conference (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) is a national event that brings together youth, prevention professionals, and community leaders from across the country to share, and strengthen strategies to prevent substance misuse. The conference includes training sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities focused on building healthy, drug-free communities. CADCA’s events empower participants with the tool and knowledge to make a positive impact in their local areas.

During CADCA, which was held in Nashville, Tennessee, five students from Eudora and Perry Lecompton were given the opportunity to have an active role as leaders and change-makers for a week. Throughout the conference, students engaged in hands-on workshops that focused on building leadership, communication, strategic planning, and prevention skills. Youth also learned how to analyze community problems, develop action plans, and use data driven strategies to address issues within their communities. In addition to that, youth also had many opportunities to network with peers from across the country, exchange ideas, and collaborate on shared goals.

Beyond the sessions, youth were able to explore the city of Nashville, attend the youth talent show, make friends for life, and return home with renewed confidence and inspiration. CADCA not only deepened their understanding of prevention work – it gave them a voice and a platform to lead real change!

This experience will forever have a lasting impact. The youth returned home motivated and eager to implement new ideas in their schools and to serve as positive role models for their peers. They are excited to apply what they learned and continue making a difference in both Eudora and Perry Lecompton communities!
