Stigma is a huge barrier to getting the help people need, and this event provides an opportunity to help break down the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide. It is also a way to remind everyone it’s okay to ask for help when we need it, and to share those vital resources on how and where to get that help. Finally this event encourages community connectedness; connecting with others is a powerful protective factor for suicide, mental health challenges, and substance use.
