Area middle and high schoolers shared what causes them stress and identified some of their strengths during the YEP! Kickoff in Lawrence. Led by DCCCA Prevention Services staff Alexandria Garcia, Ariel Cohn, Anabel Feauto, and Madeline Marrero, students and teacher leaders from Lawrence, Eudora, Baldwin City, and Perry-Lecompton schools participated.

Everyone deserves relationships that are free from violence. This October gives us a chance to raise awareness about the dangers of relationship violence and how we can support victims.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is an opportunity for education and empowerment around relationship violence. This creates the chance for anyone and everyone to unite in the work around domestic violence so we can continue to create strong support networks and provide for those in need.

Visit Douglas County Fairgrounds on October 11, 2025, at 9:00 am for a special event!

Past, Plants, and Pathways: Discover the Douglas County Fairgrounds is a collaboration of Douglas County Extension, LiveWell Douglas County, and the Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council. This event will not only offer more information on its hosts but also will present on the history of the Means House, take attendees on tours of the fairground's arboretum and gardens, and provide guided walks in honor of breast cancer awareness.

Community members are encouraged to attend this free educational event about youth trauma. All are invited to attend, including parents and caregivers, faith leaders, and community advocates as we listen to the voices of youth and share our own perspectives on the topic.

Kansas Children Service League will share their expertise and guide this event using a highly participatory process, utilizing the the World Café model in small groups to discuss key questions related to youth trauma.
