Join community members and runners for Spring Fling 2026! Hosted by Fleet Feet of Lawrence, this event benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence. Serving over 1,400 kids across 12 locations in Douglas County, BGCLK is an essential support system for hundreds of families in our community. Help support their programming and mission and enjoy a fun 1 or 5 mile race that is fit for all ages!

A reminder that you can still donate your gently used kitchen tools and appliances to benefit other community members! These donations will be sold at $10 and under and proceeds go toward the Extension Master Food Volunteers and their outreach efforts in Douglas County!

Donations are accepted March 2-20, 2026 and can be dropped off between 9am-4pm at the Douglas County Extension office, located at 2120 Harper St, Lawrence, KS 66046.

Growing Together is a FREE event supporting families from pregnancy through early childhood! Connect with local community organizations, health service providers, and family resources. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about safe sleep, breastfeeding, tobacco cessation, mental health resources, car seat safety, home safety, and more! All are welcome!

K-State Extension Douglas County is seeking two summer interns to support program planning and facilitation, coordination of Extension events, and basic communication and marketing efforts. Interns will gain hands-on experience working across a broad range of Extension program areas, collaborating with staff on initiatives that integrate agriculture, community health and wellness, community vitality, horticulture and natural resources, and 4-H youth development to address community needs.

This full-time, ten-week internship will run from approximately May 26 through July 31, 2026. The summer interns will be selected by April 10, 2026.

Money Smarts is a hands-on financial literacy event designed for youth ages 11–14. Participants will explore real-world financial skills through fun, interactive stations. We are excited to have community leaders explain the basics of budgeting and help youth understand the true costs of owning a car.

They will test their knowledge in a life-like simulation where they will roleplay the life of a young adult making monthly money decisions. The participants will visit stations to make essential spending choices for housing, transportation, food, childcare, insurance, and more. This event is organized by Douglas County 4-H Extension, SparkWheel, and LiveWell Douglas County. Lunch will be provided.
